Middleton, NS - The Town of Middleton announces that Councillor Sandra Fournier has formally resigned from her position on Town Council.
Councillor Fournier has served on Council since November 2024, contributing to key initiatives and decisions that have supported the growth and well-being of the Town of Middleton. During her tenure, she was actively involved in advocating for community safety, representing Council on the Police Advisory Board.
Council and staff respect Councillor Fournier's decision and would like to thank her for her service, dedication, and contributions to the community.
Mayor Gail Smith acknowledged Councillor Fournier's time in office, noting her commitment to representing residents and participating in the work of Council during her tenure.
"On behalf of Council, I would like to thank Councillor Fournier for her service to the Town of Middleton. Her commitment and contributions have been valued, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours."
In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, Council will determine a date for a special election to fill the vacant Council seat within four (4) weeks. Staff are currently reviewing options and will bring forward recommendations to Council, which will set a by-election date. This date will be announced once it has been approved by Council.
Further information regarding the process to fill the vacant Council seat will be shared with the public once details are confirmed.
