Middleton One of Four Sites Selected for New Public Housing
The Town of Middleton is proud to announce that our community has been selected as one of four sites in Nova Scotia set to receive new publicly supported housing under the province’s five-year plan to build 515 new units across the province.
This project marks an important step forward in expanding access to safe, affordable housing for residents and families. Rent will be based on income, meaning tenants won’t pay more than roughly 30% of their gross income in rent.
“We’re thrilled to see Middleton included in this significant provincial investment,” said Mayor Gail Smith. “This new housing will help meet critical needs in our community and support a stronger, more vibrant Middleton for everyone.”
By creating stable housing options, this development supports Middleton’s growth, strengthens families, and helps local workers stay connected to their communities. The new housing will help address the rising demand for affordable homes in the region.
The Town of Middleton is working closely with the province every step of the way, and construction could begin in the spring of 2026. The Town of Middleton looks forward to keeping the community informed and engaged as this important housing project moves forward.
