The Town of Middleton is incredibly proud to celebrate Fire Chief Michael “Mike” Toole and 2nd Deputy Fire Chief Jody Spidle, who have been recognized with Provincial Volunteer Awards for their outstanding dedication and service to our community.
Between them, Mike and Jody have contributed more than five decades of service to the Middleton Fire Department, giving countless hours to protecting our community, supporting fellow firefighters and helping build the strong, capable department that Middleton relies on today.
With more than 28 years of service, Chief Toole has provided steadfast leadership while strengthening relationships with municipal leaders, community organizations, businesses and residents. His work has helped secure funding, modernize equipment, advance fire prevention initiatives and build important regional partnerships, all contributing to a stronger and more resilient fire service for Middleton and the surrounding area.
For the past 24 years, 2nd Deputy Chief Spidle has been an equally important part of the department. His calm leadership, technical knowledge and commitment to training and mentoring volunteers have helped prepare generations of Middleton firefighters. Behind the scenes and on the front lines, Jody has worked to ensure members are trained, supported and equipped to serve their community.
Mike and Jody's contributions also extend far beyond emergency response. The Middleton Fire Department is an integral part of community life, and both have devoted countless hours to parades, school activities, holiday celebrations, fundraising initiatives and the many local traditions that bring Middleton together.
While we celebrate Mike and Jody receiving this well-deserved recognition, we also want to recognize Deputy Fire Chief Scott Veinot, whose dedication and service are an important part of the department's success. Scott was not eligible to be nominated this year because he was already a recipient of a Provincial Volunteer Award in 2013, and individuals can only receive the award once. We would have been proud to see all three members of the department's leadership recognized together, and Scott's previous award is a testament to the longstanding commitment to volunteer service shared by this team.
The Town is extremely fortunate to have Mike, Scott and Jody among the leaders of the Middleton Fire Department. Their commitment goes well beyond responding when an emergency call comes in. They train, mentor, organize, plan, volunteer at community events and continually work to ensure Middleton has a fire department it can depend on.
Congratulations to Chief Mike Toole and 2nd Deputy Chief Jody Spidle on this very deserving provincial recognition. On behalf of the Town of Middleton, thank you for the many years, countless hours and extraordinary commitment you have given to our community.
We are incredibly proud to call you members of the Middleton Fire Department.
