Water Main Break Notice - Oakland Drive
- Details
- Category: News
Update #1: 6:45pm - June 8
Public Works are currently responding to a water main break on Oakland Drive.
Staff were hoping to isolate the break, but there is currently no pressure or water for residents on Oakland Drive.
Residents in the Oakland Drive area will have a water service interruption for the next 3-4 hours while crews repair the water main.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews work to restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible. Updates will be provided here, as more information becomes available.
Update #2: 7:15pm - June 8
Birch Lane is also affected by the water main break. Residents on Birch Lane and Oakland Drive will experience a water service disruption.
Update #3: 10:55pm - June 8
Water will be restored in 20 minutes.
Following a water main break and restoration of service, some residents may experience temporary water discolouration. This occurs when changes in water flow disturb naturally occurring mineral and sediment deposits inside water mains, causing them to become suspended in the water. While the discolouration is harmless, residents are encouraged to run a cold water tap for several minutes until the water runs clear.

Town of Middleton Responds to Closure of Middleton Library
The Town of Middleton recognizes the significant concern and disappointment being expressed by residents regarding the closure of the Middleton library.
Library services play an important role in communities. For many residents, libraries provide access not only to books and educational resources, but also to technology, information, programming, and community connections. The loss of these services will be felt by many individuals and families throughout Middleton and the surrounding area.
"The Middleton library has been an important part of our community for many years, and we understand why residents are feeling disappointed by this news," said Mayor Gail Smith. "Libraries provide valuable services and opportunities for people of all ages. I want residents to know that Council is listening to their concerns and recognizes how important access to library services is for our community."
The Town of Middleton is committed to working with relevant stakeholders to explore opportunities for services in Middleton moving forward.
The Town of Middleton respects the work of all organizations involved and recognizes that this is a complex situation. Our immediate focus is to understand the impact this will have on the community and to acknowledge the disappointment and frustration residents feel.
The Town encourages residents seeking information about library services and the closure to continue following updates from the appropriate sources.
As this situation continues to unfold, the Town of Middleton will remain engaged, informed, and committed to listening to the residents we serve.

Road Patch Paving Update
- Details
- Category: News
The Town of Middleton would like to provide residents with an update regarding road repairs and pothole maintenance.
The asphalt patch paving tender closed on June 1 and was awarded today, June 2. The successful contractor will now be scheduled to complete the work based on their availability. Once a timeline has been confirmed, the Town will provide an update to residents through its website and social media channels.
As is common following the winter season, freeze-thaw cycles have resulted in an increased number of potholes and areas of deteriorating pavement throughout the community. While Public Works staff continue to monitor road conditions and perform temporary repairs where possible, permanent asphalt patch paving is required to address many of the more significant areas of damage.
Patch paving will be completed based on priority locations and the severity of roadway deterioration.
The Town appreciates the public's patience as this work is scheduled and completed. Maintaining our road infrastructure remains a priority, and staff will continue working to address problem areas throughout the paving season.
Further updates, including anticipated timelines, will be shared as soon as they become available.
