Recreation: Parks & Facilities

The Rotary Raceway Park is situated on the site of the former Middleton Driving Park, a horse racing facility operated from 1908 to the early 1950's. The track is still in place, and encompasses two ball fields and a soccer field. The track has a total distance of 880 meters. In the early 1970's, the Town of Middleton began planning for recreational use of the site.

Between 1984 and 1987 the current Park was developed by the Town with assistance from the Rotary Club and many hours of volunteer labour. It has since been extensively used for active recreation and competitive sports including softball, soccer, rugby, basketball, volleyball, and horse shoes.

This fine recreational facility also offers a children's pre-school playground that has provided hours of entertainment in a safe environment for the families of Middleton.

The Rotary Park is an excellent choice for any outdoor recreational event with washroom facilities and a pavilion for shade on hot summer days. The pavilion is excellent for group BBQ's and other large gatherings.

All facilities can booked for games, practices, special events and tournaments. To reserve a facility at the Park and get rental price information, contact the Department of Community and Economic Development at 825-6611 Monday to Friday and between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm.
